On October 14, as part of the World Standards Day celebration, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) organized various competitions to raise awareness about the significance of standards in different industries.

Dr.A.P.Sathiyagnanam, Associate Professor and BIS Mentor from Government College of Engineering, Salem, received the prestigious Best Mentor Award. Competing against over 110 colleges within the BIS organization, he stood out for his exceptional mentorship, guiding students toward academic and competitive excellence.

In the student competitions, Anandhakumar A from the Mechanical Engineering Department secured first place in the quiz competition. His extensive knowledge of standards and regulations helped him outshine participants from other institutions, earning him a cash prize of Rs. 10,000.

A team comprising standard club members, Megha Harthana S from the Computer Science and Engineering department, Yalzhini S, Monesh S, and Anandhakumar A from the Mechanical Engineering department of Government College of engineering, Salem participated in the skit competition. Their creative and impactful performance won them the first prize, along with a Rs. 10,000 cash award.
