English Literary Association (ELA) of Government College of Engineering, Salem helps students to enhance their English Communication and Writing Skills.
"The conquest of learning is achieved through the knowledge of languages" - Roger Bacon.
During the club sessions, events and games are conducted to help students to improve their communication skills and vocabulary knowledge. On-spot speaking, Puzzle solving, General speaking, JAM, Shipwreck and Group discussion are also held which help the students to face the interview with confidence.
ELA also has an initiative named “Reader’s realm.” It is a book club where students come together and we pick a book each month, read it and have a discussion at the end of the book. There are read-along sessions conducted online where students who wish to read together come along and discuss. These sessions aim to improve the vocabulary and language skills of students and provide them a warm place through books.
Few more interesting competitions like story writing/completing, poem writing and vlogging are held during special occasions. The winners of each contest are selected and encouraged with prizes. Every year ELA conducts an inter-departmental literary fest titled ‘Xperia’ and encourages students to participate in on-stage competition to build their confidence
ELA plays an active role in enhancing and developing the communicational, writing and vocabulary knowledge among young engineering students.
