Department of Metallurgical Engineering

 Students of the Metallurgical Engineering are active members of the Society for the Advancement of Metallurgical Engineering (SFAME), which imparts creativity and technical skills and also organises inter and intra college symposiums cum seminar. The Department of Metallurgy creates the moulders of the world and it is dedicated to produce a number of technocrats every year. The faculties are very well experienced and motivating and impart knowledge with a practical sense.

NIRF

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) approved by the MHRD has been operational since 29th September 2015. It outlines a methodology to rank institutions across the country based on the parameters that broadly cover “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Outreach and Inclusivity,” and “Perception”.

Why GCE Grads?

 

  • Government College of Engineering, Salem-11, was started during the Third Five year plan in the year 1966 and is located on a 162 hectares site surrounded by hills GCE, Salem was then the Third Engineering Institution in Tamil Nadu. The first batch of students was selected for the academic year 1966-1967.The institution offers  6 UG and 5 PG programmes.

Recruitment Procedure

Placement Procedure
 
  • Invitations are sent to the companies to conduct recruitment drive at the college by the placement team along with the placement brochure.
  • To the responding companies, the details of the students opting for placement are sent as per their eligibility criteria.
  • Mutual agreeable date for the recruitment process is finalized.
  • Selection processes are held on the planned date to shortlist the candidates.
  • The results are announced shortly after the selection process

Scholarships

SCHOLARSHIPS, FEE CONCESSION AND LOAN
 
The following scholarship are awarded by Government and other Agencies to deserving students. The details are as follows:

NOTE : All  first  Graduates  are  exempted  from  paying  tuition  fees. All  SC/ST  students  are  exempted  from  payment  of  Tuition Fee
